You are invited to apply for our 2024-2025 Twelve Apostles School of Education Pilot Program,

33 Weeks to God through Reading.

This course is equivalent to 6 college credits, spread over three 11-week terms.

Our campus is located at Lansing Catholic High School, 501 Marshall St., Lansing, MI, 48912.

Classes, held Wednesdays from 6:00-9:00 PM, will include prayer time and instruction enabling you to:

  • Think clearly about the relationships among literacy-related skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening), dyslexia, and how to identify and address students’ reading needs

  • Make informed instructional decisions with confidence and efficiency, based on solid knowledge of the neurological processes involved in skilled reading versus poorer reading

  • Observe, practice, and provide reading instruction using approaches that have been shown to be effective for all aspects of the reading process

  • Read and understand the Bible and other spiritual readings

  • Learn about and practice a variety of forms of prayer

  • Help your students develop reading skills and a deeper relationship with God in conjunction

Course instructor:  Dr. Caitlin Dillon

Dr. Caitlin Dillon’s experience teaching hundreds of students of all ages to read well is a result of her reliance on God and her background as a linguist, a reading researcher, and then a classroom teacher.  Her love for students, especially those who struggle to learn to read, fuels her desire to pass her knowledge and experience on to fellow teachers and anyone interested in learning to teach people to read well. To be able to provide training for teachers, she founded Mark Trinity, LLC, in 2016, created Word Revelation and Logos materials, presents at national and local conferences, collaborates with the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education to provide literacy-instruction training, and began the Twelve Apostles School of Teacher Education in 2024.

“I learned more from Dr. Dillon in 4 hours than in 2 years of reading instruction training.”

~Tiffany, elementary school teacher

Outside of class time, coursework will include:

  • brief readings and homework

  • observations of instruction

  • direct instruction of students (for current teachers, your current students can be given consideration as the recipients of this instruction)
