The strategies and activities in LOGOS help students up to about age 8 to learn foundational literacy skills such as letter recognition, phoneme awareness, and the alphabetic principle. In LOGOS workshops, teachers are also helped to better utilize other materials already available to them. It is not necessary for teachers to use LOGOS with students before beginning Word Revelation.
The heart of our literacy instructional approach is a set of 35 activities called Word Revelation, designed for teachers to use with any students, from about age 8 to adult. Word Revelation activities can be used either to initially teach students to read, or to help struggling readers establish new habits that will contribute to skilled word recognition, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and even writing.
After teachers have taken students through the activities in Word Revelation to establish the habits that will allow for maximal reading skills, the strategies and activities in Dive to Rise help students apply their new skills as they read any texts in order to develop greater automaticity, deeper comprehension, accurate and consistent spelling, and solid foundational writing skills.
